How the ChatGPT companion’s library connection handles information.
What reaches the library
When you use the companion’s library actions in ChatGPT, ChatGPT sends a search query, optional book or collection filters, or a passage identifier to the library service hosted at totbible.org. The service returns matching text from the current public library with titles, authors, and references.
The companion is instructed to send only the terms needed for a search, leaving out names, personal pastoral details, and full private message drafts. Review requests shown by ChatGPT before allowing a connection. Avoid including confidential information in a search.
What the connection can access
The connection can read the public library index. It cannot edit books or access our private management Drive, editing files, or incoming manuscripts. A forthcoming edition already included in the public library is labeled as forthcoming.
Storage and service operation
The library application does not save search query text or conversation transcripts. It keeps aggregate request counts by minute to manage capacity. Our hosting provider may retain standard access and error logs, including request times, network addresses, paths, and service errors, for operation and security. Search text is sent in a request body rather than a URL.
Retrieval does not use the website’s paid AI-answer service. ChatGPT receives the returned passages and generates the response within your ChatGPT conversation.
Your ChatGPT account
ChatGPT independently handles your conversation, uploaded files, and account information under OpenAI’s policies and your account settings. This page describes the library connection; it does not replace OpenAI’s privacy policy or control ChatGPT’s storage.
